The purpose of Camp Needlepoint is to provide a fun and safe camping experience for children living with diabetes. We want to give kids the opportunity to meet other kids just like them as well as help them gain confidence and independence in managing their diabetes.
Camp is located at YMCA Camp St. Croix, south of Hudson, WI on a wooded bluff along the St. Croix River. Facilities include: a 24 hour health center, dining hall, crafts building, nature building, tennis and basketball courts, soccer fields, archery range, sand volleyball court, rope course and horseback riding area. The beach is equipped for canoeing, sailing, kayaking and swimming
Our mission as Northern Hollow Winery is to help children go to camp from the area to meet other children just like them so they don't feel alone in dealing with this disease. Our family has type 1 diabetics that deal with this disease everyday, and every minute of their lives. They never get a break from it, constantly checking their blood sugars and worrying about what they eat. One person from our family has been to Camp Needlepoint and also became a counselor at Camp Needlepoint. This experience has not only helped him in dealing with this disease, but also has granted him the opportunity to have met and have establish friendships that are still active today. Now his son , who was just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes will be attending Camp Needlepoint. We are hoping to help with some of the costs/fees that are associated with sending children from our area to Camp Needlepoint. Northern Hollow Winery is asking you for help sending children to Camp Needlepoint by donating to this cause. Just click the link below to donate. Thank you
